Canada has developed a first rate education system with high standards and Canadian students rank among the best in world on international tests of reading, science, and mathematics. A Canadian certificate, diploma or degree is globally recognized as equivalent to those from Commonwealth countries and the United States.
Canada is an international leader in computer and information technologies and has reputation for excellence in telecommunications, transportation and engineering, particularly urban transport, microelectronics, advanced software, aerospace, medical devices, hydroelectric, nuclear power, biotechnology, ocean and environmental industries. Canada was among the first to connect schools and libraries to the internet.
Once you choose a place to study in Canada, you would need to apply to that school, college or university. Each institution has different rules on how to apply.
It is recommended to apply early for your course as the whole application process can take a long time, up to six months. The school will provide you with the right application forms. You would also need to find out about:
- Cost of applying
- Tuition fees
- Health insurance
- Rent
- Language proficiency tests
Once you fill out the application form and submit it, the school verifies and provides you with a letter of acceptance. That letter of acceptance is one of the documents required to apply for Study Permit.
In order to enter Canada as a foreign student you will need a Study Permit and a Temporary Resident Visa which will be processed by the Visa Officer where you submit your application along with supporting documents. Applying for Study Permit does not guarantee you getting a Study Permit.
